Shortly after creating my post on delivering great sales presentations, I was followed on Twitter by a group called SlideRocket. I had heard of them, but never saw their product. I headed over to their website and signed up to try it out.   

I am 100% impressed! SlideRocket is an online, flash based tool for creating slides and presentations. Having been very frustrated for years with PowerPoint (though slightly less frustrated with the 2007 version), I have been looking for an alternative for a long time. Now I've found it.

Below is an example of a slide I put together quickly (roughly 90 seconds) using the palette driven tools.

The first thing you might notice is the clean and modern look that SlideRocket presents. You can achieve similar results in PowerPoint, but it would be a much longer process and require some work. Since slide presentations are intended to express ideas (not text), the visual tools in SlideRocket are outstanding.

Here are some other unique things about SlideRocket and reasons you may want to give a try;

• Intuitive Interface. You select your items on the left, manipulate them on the canvas and set their properties on the right. It took me no time at all to figure out how to modify colors, transparency, chart style etc.
  
• Flickr Integration. Browse from millions of backgrounds and images to use in your presentations right from the application. Appropriate image credit is automatically added by RocketSlide.
  
• Quote Search. There is a very large quotes database built into the tool. When looking for a quote to include in this slide I simply typed 'sales' and was presented a list to choose from. The quote was automatically inserted into my presentation.
  
• Portable. The tool is browser-based, so you can run your meetings from anywhere you are web-enabled, but the portability goes a lot further. You can send links directly to your slides/presentations, collaborate with your team or even conduct your meeting from right within SlideRocket. You can also export to PowerPoint, so you can play nice with those who have not discovered SlideRocket.
  

There are a ton of other features, but these are ones I could see most people benefiting from.

In summary - it's incredibly easy to use, gives you easy access to all of the art and imagery you could need, the finished product is polished and modern and it has all of the tools you need to build a stunning presentation.

One of the big features that sales people are getting most excited about is viewer metrics.
